Experiments on cyclic behaviour of cold-formed steel-rubberised concrete semi-rigid moment-resisting connections

• Bare steel and composite semi-rigid moment-resisting connections were tested. The comprised CFS tubular sections connected using side plates. Various failure limit states captured through the tested connections. infill concrete effectively prevented beam local buckling. Side plate plasticity considered as a desirable energy dissipation mechanism. This paper presents results of full-scale physical tests on recently developed cold-formed (CFS) connection infilled with rubberised (RuC) for seismic application. comprises side-plates attached to both sides built-up column either screwed or welded performed bare CFS-RuC under cyclic loading comparison purposes. predominant modes are buckling in screw shear show that typically reaches 45% higher strength 21% greater capacity than having 24 arrays. These indicate beneficial effects RuC prevention identical configuration. 36 arrays, however, was 70% reflects being more effective mechanism other identified mechanisms.
